It's Valentine's Day. I don't have a boyfriend and I'm on a diet.

San Martino

I know today is 11.11.11, but it's also San Martino's day, a tradition here in Italy. 

Here you can read about the legend of San Martino (Saint Martin).

So, according to tradition, I prepared the San Martino's cake (I made 7 of them, really), a short pastry base in the shape of a soldier on horseback decorated with candies and stuff.

So che oggi è l' 11.11.11, ma è anche il giorno di San Martino!

E come vuole la tradizione, ho preparato il dolce di San Martino (anzi, veramente ne ho fatti 7.. ho un po' esagerato con le dosi)  :-)

Waiting for Christmas: Christmas cookies

Yesterday I spent almost the entire day making Christmas cookies for relatives and friends.. but it was worth it :)

Agatha Christie's 120th birthday

Today is Agatha Christie's 120th birthday (as Google reminded us). 

And by the way I love mysteries! I have read hundreds of detective stories (I'm not joking) both classic novels and contemporary thrillers and my favourites are those set in a college or in an isolated hotel/manor in the countryside with a bunch of people gathered for the weekend..

If you want to celebrate Agatha's birthday, the best way to do it is, probably, cooking the Delicious Death, a cake by Jane Asher which recipe is inspired by a passage in one of the Miss Marple books, "A Murder is Announced". For the ingredients and method click here.

Oggi è il 120esimo compleanno di Agatha Christie (come Google ci ha ricordato). 

E, a proposito, io amo i gialli! Ho letto centinaia di libri gialli (non sto scherzando) sia classici che contemporanei e quelli che preferisco sono ambientati in un college o in un hotel/villa di campagna isolata con un gruppo di persone riunite per il fine settimana..
