The gentleman dentist

Today I went to the dentist for the periodic professional cleaning. 

As everybody else I don't particularly like beeing tortured on the dentist's chair (not my favourite place I must say).

Anyway, my doctor is a real gentleman, a nice and a bit eccentric person. He often starts speaking french or german or other languages. 

Today, for example, he recited some poems by Saffo.. in ancient greek!

And he calls me "His little steppe flower"..  :-)

Oggi sono stata dal dentista per la pulizia dei denti.

Come tutti non amo particolarmente essere torturata sulla poltrona del dentista (decisamente non il posto che preferisco al mondo!).

Ma il mio dottore è un vero gentiluomo, una persona piacevole e originale. Spesso inizia a parlare in francese o tedesco o in qualche altra lingua. 

Oggi, ad esempio, ha recitato alcune poesie di Saffo.. in greco antico!

E poi mi chiama "Il suo piccolo fiore della steppa"..  :-)

Happy New Year!! How are you spending new year's day?

I'm still wearing my pyjamas, watching films while outside it's foggy. 

I do hope that new year will be good.. 2012 wasn't (except for a few thing).

Io sono in pigiama a guardare un film dopo l'altro, complice il tempo nebbioso fuori.

Ho molte speranze per quest'anno.. a parte alcune cose positive il 2012 non è stato un buon anno. 

Perciò benvenuto 2013, per favore sii gentile.

I'm almost done with Christmas presents and stuff.. 

I just have to bake and decorate my traditional Christmas cookies and then I'll be ready! :-)

What about your preparations?

Sono quasi a posto con i regali di Natale e tutto il resto..

Praticamente devo solo cucinare e decorare i miei biscotti di Natale (ormai sono una tradizione!) e poi sono pronta! :-)

This is a moment of change for me. Some of them are good and some are bad. 

I'm excited about some of them and terrified by some others.

But basically I'm a creature of habit, I hate changes. 

I'm like a cat: I can wander around and explore, but when I come back I want to find things as I left them. 

But life never stays the same. Everything moves. 

I only hope to be strong enough to accept it.

Questo è un periodo di grandi cambiamenti per me. Alcuni belli, altri brutti. 

Alcuni mi entusiasmano, altri mi terrorizzano. 

Ma fondamentalmente sono abitudinaria, odio i cambiamenti. 

Sono come un gatto: posso andarmene in giro a esplorare, ma quando torno a casa mi piace trovare le cose esattamente come le ho lasciate. 

Ma la vita non resta mai la stessa. Tutto si muove. 

Spero solo di essere forte abbastanza per accettarlo.

I've been pretty busy lately and lots of things happened.. in order: I got my master's degree (yay!), I celebrated with family and friends, I went to Istanbul, I started decluttering my stuff (such a long and hard work!) and I changed my hair color (after years of highlights, I wanted to go back to my natural color, even if at the moment it's a bit darker). 

And on thursday I'm going to London to see some friends.

I really haven't had time to take a deep breath and realize that I graduated.

Sono stata piuttosto occupata ultimamente e sono successe diverse cose.. nell'ordine: mi sono laureata (specialistica/magistrale), ho festeggiato con i miei amici e familiari, sono stata a Istanbul, ho iniziato a fare pulizia tra le mie cose (un lavoro lungo e sofferto) e ho cambiato colore di capelli (dopo anni di colpi di sole ho voluto tornare al mio colore naturale, anche se al momento sono un po' più scura). 

E giovedì vado a Londra a trovare degli amici.

Non ho davvero avuto il tempo di fare un respiro profondo e rendermi conto che mi sono laureata.
