Films for Halloween: "Road to L."

This italian movie hypothesizes a possible link between the horror literature of H.P. Lovecraft and the dark folk tales of the Po Delta, in the northern Italy.

After the find of a manuscript (dated 1926) which may have belonged to the American writer, a crew of young film-makers decides to explore the same places named in the journal.

During their journey they find strange and disturbing things, ancient traditions and mysterious places and events.

The movie is filmed as a documentary (in the "The Blair Witch Project" style) with italian and english subtitles. 

I think it's quite an unusual subject to develop in a movie and the result is pretty good, highly raccommended for Lovecraft's fans. Even if you won't see any blood, it's suspenseful and a nice alternative horror movie for your Halloween night.

NB: The "L." in the title is the town (Loreo) where the crew is going to, but did you notice that it sounds also like "Road to Hell"? Clever, ah?

Questo film italiano ipotizza un possibile collegamento tra la letteratura horror di H.P. Lovecraft e i racconti di paura del folklore del Polesine, nel nord Italia.

Dopo il ritrovamento di un manoscritto (datato 1926) che potrebbe essere appartenuto allo scrittore americano, una troupe di giovani film-makers decide di esplorare gli stessi luoghi citati nel diario.

Durante il loro viaggio scoprono cose strane e inquientanti, antiche tradizioni e luoghi e fatti misteriosi.

Il film è girato come un documentario (nello stile "The Blair Witch Project") con sottotitoli italiani e inglesi.

Penso sia un tema piuttosto originale da trattare in un film e il risultato è decisamente buono, altamente raccomandato per i fan di Lovecraft. Anche se non si vede nemmeno una goccia di sangue è un film carico di tensione e una buon film horror alternativo per la vostra serata di Halloween.

NB: Il titolo del film si riferisce a Loreo, il paese verso cui si dirigono i protagonisti, ma in inglese suona anche come "Road to Hell", cioè "Strada per l'Inferno". Carino eh?
